We’ve seen change as a constant this year. And the pace of change was swift, I cannot believe we are already well into the swing of the holiday season. We saw another shift in how we work as many office spaces reopened and welcomed their teammates to return, at least to a hybrid of remote and in-office work. As I reflect on the past year, there was a lot of change, both for me personally and for Gifford Carr. We made big decisions and even bigger moves to best set our team, clients, and our business up for success. We welcomed 16 new teammates from across the province. And personally, my wife Marissa and I welcomed our first child. It’s been a whirlwind, and I wouldn’t have traded a moment of it.
Community impact has been a focus for us in 2022, and it will continue to be as we grow. Supporting local charities and causes that better our neighbourhoods like Kivi Park in Sudbury, charity golf tournaments across the province, softball, curling, and basketball games with our local communities. We most recently helped raise over $5 Million dollars at 24h in Tremblant, read more about it here. But our charity of choice was the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. The impact of this disease on our team past and present, for those who have and are currently fighting, along with the involvement of our leadership team in local fundraising initiatives – it goes without saying this cause is near and dear to our hearts. We were beyond thrilled to market the announcement this past fall contributing over 28 thousand dollars in the fight against cancer.
In the insurance industry, we saw an increased focus on cyber – especially as companies who thought they weren’t on cyber criminals’ radars were targeted. Recruitment and retention were on the minds of many business owners, across industries, as we weathered labour shortages and the great resignation. Like many of you, this made our focus on our team and their experience with Gifford Carr even more valuable. The supply chain impacted everyone, in every industry, including the capacity for Ottawa homes and businesses to fulfill recovery from the storm that kicked off the May long weekend and the tornado that swept through Tweed, Ontario.
We are now a year into sending out these newsletters. They’ve evolved as the news hit the presses every quarter, but our marketing team would love your feedback on the content included or topics you’d like to hear more about. Feel free to share your thoughts with the team here.
