Is RV insurance mandatory?
Yes, you must have insurance for motorized RVs or motorhomes driven on roadways in Ontario.
Is travel trailer insurance mandatory?
No, when towing your travel trailer, the liability coverage comes from the auto policy of the towing vehicle. However, once your trailer is parked, the protection does not extend from your automobile insurance. That is why we advise having a separate insurance policy specifically for your travel trailer.
Do I need special coverage to take my RV across the border?
Most policies offer coverage for your cross-border journeys lasting up to 180 days (about 6 months). Additionally, some insurers may extend coverage to your stationary trailer if parked across the border, depending on the distance involved. We recommend consulting your broker to verify the specifics of your coverage.
